Target ™ Bio IEX ion exchange resin is a patent synthesis technology of MS technologies company. The non porous resin has high ion exchange capacity. The fillers were rigid, spherical and highly crosslinked polystyrene / (PS / DVB) particles.The particle sizes of non porous fillers are 1.7um, 3um, 5um and 10um. The surface of PS / DVB resin is bonded with a neutral polymer film with high hydrophilic nano thickness.
The hydrophobic PS / DVB resin surface is completely covered by the hydrophilic material, which eliminates the irreversible adsorption of biomolecules on PS / DVB, and ensures its high separation efficiency and biological sample recovery. Using unique chemical bonding technology, ion exchange functional groups can be tightly and evenly bonded to the surface of hydrophilic layer, and high capacity ion exchange layer can be obtained.

Target ™ There are four kinds of anion exchange, such as strong anion exchange (sax), strong anion exchange (sax), strong anion exchange (sax). SCX, WCX, SAXand WAX phases were formed by chemical bonding of sulfonic group, carboxyl group, quaternary ammonium group and tertiary amino group on the hydrophilic coating surface of PS / DVB resin without pore.

High adsorption capacity
1)The non porous resin has the advantages of maximum mass transfer and minimum transverse diffusion, so the sample can be separated quickly and efficiently. However, due to the low specific surface area of the non porous resin, its separation capacity is not high, which limits its application in practice. Target ™ Bio IEX series ion exchange resins have made innovative breakthrough in improving the exchange capacity of non porous resins.
2)The technology can make the adsorption capacity of non porous resins reach the same level as that of porous resins. The dynamic adsorption capacities of target bio sax and target bio wax porous ion exchange resins were 38 mg / ml and 29mg / ml, respectively. The dynamic adsorption capacity of target bio SCX was up to 55 mg / ml.
High resolution and high selectivity
1)Target ™ Bio IEX series non porous resin has three characteristics. Firstly, the hydrophilic layer with nanometer thickness completely eliminates the nonspecific interaction between PS / DVB and biological samples; secondly, the porous structure minimizes the lateral diffusion of the sample and prevents its diffusion into the interior of the filler particles.
2)The patented technology can synthesize uniform and dense ion exchange layer. Target Bio IEX with unique design ion exchange resin can provide the best resolution and separation efficiency for proteins, oligonucleotides, sugars and peptides.
Effect of particle size on separation efficiency
The smaller the packing particle size, the higher the separation efficiency and the faster the separation speed.
Target ™ The particle size of bio IEX series ion exchange resins has many specifications, ranging from 1.7μm to10μm, which can be used for analysis and semi preparation. For example, an impurity labeled n in lysozyme can hardly be separated by using a 10μm WCX column. On the WCX column with 5 m particle size, the baseline separation was basically achieved.
When the particle size is reduced to 3μm, baseline separation can be obtained. When the particle size is further reduced to1.7μm, the impurities can be completely separated.
High inter assay reproducibility
Target ™ Bio IEX series ion exchange columns have high inter batch reproducibility, which is due to the strict monitoring of polymer resin production and surface chemical modification process. The error of retention time between different batches was less than 5%. The following figure shows the comparison of analytical results of three batches of target bio Sax columns with particle size of 3μm.
